Job summary

East Riding Council is seeking street cleansing operatives to remove litter and detritus from streets, open spaces and land to a high standard. You may work alone or as part of a team, following predetermined schedules and standards.

A full driving licence with entitlement to drive 7.5 tonne vehicles (C1) is essential. The role is based at the Willerby depot and will move to the Beverley depot in February 2027, with use of street cleansing vehicles, brush, barrow, blower and other equipment.

Responsibilities

• Remove litter and detritus from streets, open spaces and associated land to a high standard.
• Work in accordance with predetermined work schedules and standards.
• Maintain and take responsibility for equipment with daily checks and cleaning.
• Utilise a range of plant, tools and equipment, including street cleansing vehicles, brush, barrow, blower and pedestrian controlled mechanical sweeper.
• Participate in initiatives to improve the street scene environment and report environmental defects.
