Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Driver Trainee Installer in Norwich. You will complete a 3-month trainee programme to become a qualified installer, joining a two-person delivery crew for home installations of furniture and large appliances.

After training, you’ll drive up to 7.5 tonnes and work full-time (41 hours across seven days). A pay premium applies for evenings (£2.75) and nights (£3.75). DBS checks may be required, and heavy lifting is involved.

• Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.

About the role

As a Driver Trainee Installer, you will be supported through our 3-month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer with a C1 driving licence. You will drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes. Once you're fully trained, you'll have the unique opportunity of bringing our distinctive John Lewis service right to our customers' door and installing the products they love into their homes (such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew. In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £2.75 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £3.75 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements. Due to its nature, you need to be 18 years or older to work in this role.

• Maintaining a safe working environment.

Please note this role involves heavy lifting: You will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

• Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.

Desirable skills/experience you can bring

• Previous experience in installation and customer delivery driving

Pay, contract and working hours

Pay: £29,000.00 - £36,600.00 Annual

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours of Work: Full time work (41 hours) across seven days to include weekends between the hours of 06:00-17:00
