Job summary
Interaction Engineering is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Programmer/Machinist to support precision engineering in aerospace and defence sectors. Based near Chatteris, you’ll work on offline programming, setting and operating advanced 5-axis machines, with PowerMill/PowerShape and CATIA CAD data integration.
The role requires strong 5-axis programming, CAD data manipulation, and a methodical approach, plus experience with FANUC and HEIDENHAIN controls.
Qualifications
- Strong 5-axis CNC programming experience.
- Expertise in PowerMill and PowerShape.
- Experience manipulating CAD data from CATIA.
- Setting and operating experience.
- Experience with FANUC and/or HEIDENHAIN controls.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Experience in a precision engineering environment.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Strong communication and organisation.
- Mechanical engineering qualification or 5+ years' experience.
Responsibilities
- Offline 5-axis programming for production parts.
- CNC machine setting and operation.
- Develop and optimise machining processes.
- Create robust 5-axis programming strategies.
- Program with PowerMill and PowerShape.
- Create models from CATIA and manage CAD data.
- Prove out first-off programs; ensure production readiness.
- Improve toolpaths for efficiency and accuracy.
- Support shop-floor teams and resolve issues.
