Based at BCA Automotive’s Doncaster Depot, the Driver Liaison will work as part of the transport allocation team, assisting with load building and allocating work to a pool of Drivers, plus assisting in trafficking Drivers to achieve the required customer service level in relation to deliveries being made on time.
Reporting to the Allocation Team Leader , the post holder’s key responsibilities will be:
- Co-ordinating the most efficient use of the nominated Drivers by daily contact and updating Vision with the current information to improve Driver utilisation.
- Responsibility for maximising Drivers’ available hours whilst staying within working time legislation.
- Monitoring and manage Driver performance against expectations and challenge inefficiencies or poor practices.
- Highlight to the Team Leader any productivity concerns with individuals.
- Update the helpdesk team on all likely failed or late deliveries.
- Monitor Driver adherence to best practice through use of vehicle tracking system.
- Agree daily with the wider team priorities and changes to Driver patterns required to achieve volume and lead time requirements.
- Co-ordinate with handling agents at collection points as well as customers at delivery points to resolve any Driver delays experienced.
- Ensure communication with Drivers takes place daily to confirm workload and expected achievement timescales.
- Plan Drivers to arrive for scheduled maintenance on time and in line with compliance requirements.
- Ensure any Driver downtime is minimised and acted upon to resolve.
- Monitor Driver loading achievement to ensure the full allocated load is taken on every occasion.
- Route the Drivers in such a way to minimise any empty miles incurred.
- Ensure each driver despatches/delivery accepts work real time, keeping Vision updated.
- Any other duties that are reasonably assigned to you.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will possess/ be;
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade A-C, including English and Maths.
- Experience in a Driver Liaison, Traffic Planning, Allocation role or similar.
- Experience dealing with internal and external customers.
- A good knowledge of UK geography.
- A good understanding of Drivers’ working time legislation.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
