Job summary

VIQU Limited is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer for a 12-month contract in Fareham. You will provide BAU support across a secure, highly available Windows- and VMware-based infrastructure.

The role focuses on 3rd line troubleshooting, infrastructure administration and on-site operational support, with responsibilities spanning Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, networking and disaster recovery. On-site five days per week.

Qualifications

• Experience providing 3rd line BAU support for Windows infrastructure.
• Strong Windows Server, AD, DNS and DHCP expertise.
• VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter administration and troubleshooting.
• Networking skills: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls.
• Experience with on-premises and virtualised infrastructure; monitoring, backup and DR.
• PowerShell or scripting/automation experience.
• Azure or AWS experience desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide 3rd line BAU support and resolve complex infrastructure incidents.
• Administer and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory and VMware environments.
• Troubleshoot server, virtualization and network issues.
• Support LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs and firewalls.
• Monitor infrastructure and support backup, patching and disaster recovery.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement technical fixes.

3rd Line Support Engineer - 12-Month Contract - Fareham

My longstanding customer is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join an established IT team, providing BAU support across a secure and highly available infrastructure environment.

The role is heavily focused on 3rd line troubleshooting, infrastructure administration and operational support, covering Windows Server, VMware, networking and hybrid infrastructure.

Essential Technical Experience from the 3rd Line Support Engineer:

• Strong Windows Server experience.
• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
• Networking knowledge - TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs and firewalls.
• Experience supporting on-premises and virtualised infrastructure.
• Infrastructure monitoring, backup and disaster recovery.
• Strong 3rd line troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• PowerShell or scripting/automation experience.
• Azure or AWS experience desirable, not essential.

Key Responsibilities of the 3rd Line Support Engineer:
