Bedford IT Company is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to replace a retiring team member. The role demands hands-on implementation and troubleshooting across networking, security, servers and cloud services.
You'll work with Aruba, WatchGuard, Windows Server/Hyper-V, AD, DNS/DHCP, Azure/M365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams. Strong practical skills in backup/DR and VoIP are highly valued.
Our client - a long-established Bedford based IT Company - is looking to recruit an experienced, hands-on 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to replace a long-standing engineer who will shortly be retiring.
The key skills and experience we are looking for are:
Networking: Strong HP/Aruba experience, including Layer 2/3 switching, VLANs, routing, Wi-Fi and Aruba Central. Candidates should be able to give examples of installations they have personally delivered, including size, number of users/sites and complexity.
Firewalls/Routers: Hands-on WatchGuard and/or DrayTek experience, including VPNs, VLANs, routing, failover and ideally WatchGuard high-availability/FireCluster configurations.
Servers: Experience physically building and installing Dell, HPE, Fujitsu or similar servers, including memory, disks, RAID controllers, NICs and RAID configuration.
Windows Server/Hyper-V: Strong experience installing Windows Server and designing, deploying and troubleshooting Hyper-V environments, together with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
Azure/Microsoft 365: Practical experience implementing and supporting Azure environments, as well as Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
Telephony: 3CX experience would be a significant advantage, although experience with other on-premises or cloud VoIP systems would also be useful.
Backup/DR: Good practical experience configuring, troubleshooting and recovering server/VM backups and disaster recovery solutions.
The key requirement is that candidates have genuine hands-on implementation and troubleshooting experience, rather than simply having supported systems installed by others.
