Description

3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer

We are in search of a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join Leidos UK within the Defence Team, based Herefordshire.

In response to the success of the growing business, Leidos requires a number of 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineers to support this expansion by helping to create compelling solutions for our existing and future customers.

Responsibilities

The preferred candidate will be primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of MS System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM)/ Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and demonstrate effective application of Infrastructure with extensive knowledge across a variety of technologies such as Microsoft Windows Server (including services such as AD, DNS, DHCP) and virtualization (Hyper-V), Microsoft Stack Technologies (SharePoint, SQL Server, Skype for Business / Teams), networking technologies, and storage.

The role will provide technical exposure across both outcomes-based project activities and operational (Business as Usual) support activities. The duties of the role will include on-site support and out-of-hours on-call support.

You will be expected to contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation and provide material to support the project work or the operational support service.

Who do we need?

We are looking for someone with a passion for infrastructure, ideally from an operational support services background. You will be self-motivated and able to work autonomously to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, while also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues, and demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.

Ideally, you will:

  1. Have excellent knowledge of MS System Centre Configuration Manager/ Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM);
  2. Have excellent knowledge of Virtualized Environments such as VMware and Hyper-V;
  3. Have excellent knowledge of Windows Server Environments, from Server 2003 – 2019, including OS build, AD, DNS, DHCP, and GPO from design to implementation and support;
  4. Have good general knowledge of TCP/IP and networking technologies including load balancing and firewalls;
  5. Have good general knowledge of Microsoft stack technologies such as SharePoint, Skype for Business / Teams, MS SQL, MS System Centre (SCSM, SCOM, SCORCH), Office365, MS Exchange & CLI tooling such as PowerShell;
  6. Have good general knowledge of SAN storage technologies;
  7. Have excellent analysis and problem-solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents ensuring these are resolved to the satisfaction of the customer;
  8. Possess excellent communication skills;
  9. Have experience of producing and updating technical documentation to a high standard.
