An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Barnsley Facilities Services (BFS) here at Barnsley Hospital in the Decontamination Services Team as a Technician. The Decontamination Services Team is focused on delivering high-quality, compliant services at the right speed and cost to Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT) and BFS's other customers. We aim to meet customer needs, offer high levels of customer satisfaction, and provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and service users/customers.
You will work within a team of technicians to ensure that the decontamination process for multiple areas is conducted efficiently and in a timely manner. You will need to prioritize conflicting demands to meet strict deadlines. This is a rewarding yet demanding role as it involves working within a Quality Management System.
Previous experience is beneficial but not required. You will be supported to achieve an Apprenticeship Level 2, including the IDSc Technical Certificate.
This role will develop into a Technician position, sponsored for the Healthcare Science Level 2 Apprenticeship.
The role covers Monday to Friday, 14:00 to 22:00, with the possibility of being on-call.

In this role, you will undertake decontamination science duties and assist (under supervision) the workforce of Decontamination Technician Supervisors in providing specialized decontamination of medical devices, contributing to patient care.
You will carry out receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing, and sterilization of reusable medical devices within ISO 13485:2016 and UK MDR 2002 standards. All tasks will be recorded in the Healthcare Science Information Systems (tracking and tracing) database.
You will ensure all instrument sets are assembled according to their contents and sterilized following established procedures, providing sterile goods to internal and external users as needed.
You will work in accordance with the Department's Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems.
