Role Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Patent Attorney specialising in Electronics & High-Tech. Bridging deep technical innovation with commercial strategy, you will manage a varied caseload spanning patent prosecution, portfolio optimisation, and complex contentious matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting & Portfolio Management: Oversee prosecution and strategic management of domestic and international patent portfolios.
• FTO & Patentability: Conduct thorough novelty searches and deliver pragmatic advice regarding freedom-to-operate, infringement, and validity.
• Commercial Strategy & Due Diligence: Advise clients on IP alignment, licensing, trade secrets, and conduct IP audits for M&A, venture funding, and tech transfers.
• EPO Contentious Work: Assist in preparing legal submissions, evidence, and strategy for EPO opposition and appeal proceedings.

Candidate Profile

• Qualification: UK Patent Attorney qualification (1–5 years PQE).
• Technical Background: Educational or professional background in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
• Domain Expertise: Exposure to cutting-edge tech sectors, including semiconductors, wireless communications (5G/6G), sensor technologies, consumer electronics, or computer-implemented inventions.
• Core Competencies: Clear, succinct communication skills paired with a commercial, solution-oriented mindset.
