G2 Legal Limited is seeking an Electronics & Technology Technical Specialist to join its UK team. You will focus on the technical side of intellectual property, working with patent attorneys and clients on electronics and emerging technology matters.

The role suits STEM graduates or technically experienced professionals who want to advance in a specialist IP environment with emphasis on technical expertise over traditional legal work.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or related STEM discipline.
  • Strong understanding of electronics or high-tech technologies.
  • Genuine interest in innovation, emerging technology and IP.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand complex electronics and technology concepts.
  • Support patent attorneys with technical aspects of patent applications and prosecution.
  • Review technical documentation, specifications and inventions.
  • Conduct technical research across emerging technology areas.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Assist with preparation and development of technical patent material.
  • Develop deep understanding of clients' technologies and innovations.

Job description

A leading international intellectual property firm is looking to appoint an Electronics & Technology Technical Specialist to join its UK team. The firm works with some of the world's most innovative technology-led businesses and has a strong reputation for handling complex technical and intellectual property matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a STEM graduate or technically experienced professional to develop their career within a specialist IP environment, with a strong emphasis on technical expertise rather than traditional legal work.

As the successful candidate, you will focus primarily on the technical side of intellectual property, working closely with patent attorneys and clients on a range of electronics and emerging technology matters. You will use your technical knowledge to understand, analyse and communicate complex technologies, with exposure to areas such as semiconductors, telecommunications, electrical engineering, software and other high-tech technologies.

Previous IP experience would be beneficial but is not essential, making this an attractive opportunity for graduates with a strong electronics or technology background.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting patent attorneys with technical aspects of patent applications and prosecution

  • Keeping up to date with developments across electronics, engineering and emerging technologies
  • Communicating complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or a related STEM discipline
  • Strong technical understanding of electronics and/or high-tech technologies
  • Genuine interest in innovation, emerging technology and intellectual property
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to work with technical documentation
  • Previous experience within intellectual property would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Open to recent graduates as well as candidates with relevant technical or IP experience
