Job summary

Marella Cruises is seeking an experienced 2nd Engineer to join the Marella Discovery 2 and Marella Discovery vessels aboard ship. The role requires STCW95 and CoC A-III/1, with extensive engine room supervision and maintenance responsibilities.

Embarkation is scheduled, and rotation will follow contract terms. The candidate should have strong references, proficiency in English, and extensive experience with passenger ships and Wärtsilä engines.

Qualifications

• Valid STCW95 certification.
• Valid CoC A-III/1.
• Appropriate certification as required by regulations.
• Extensive experience on passenger ships in a similar role; preferably Wartsila engines.
• Physically and medically fit.
• Moral integrity; background checks.
• Public Health, Sanitation and Environmental training appreciated.
• Proficient reading of technical drawings and manuals.
• Alaska experience is a plus.
• Public Health/Coast Guard/Port State Control experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe engine room watch at sea, in port and at anchor.
• Lead safe operation of Main and Auxiliary engines.
• Oversee maintenance and repairs in Engine Room and related spaces.
• Coordinate with technical parties and departments as needed.
• Keep engine log books; report to Chief/Staff Engineer.
• Assist junior Engine Officers in familiarisation with Engine Room and control room.
• Ensure compliance with ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL and related standards.
