NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Registered Children's Nurse to join our paediatric unit as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will assess needs, develop care plans, implement and evaluate programmes to ensure high quality care for patients.
The post involves rostered duties across inpatient and outpatient services, with supervision of junior staff and adherence to the NMC Code and local policies.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients.
The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision. The post holder may be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses.
The paediatric unit comprises a 24hour triage service, outpatient service, day surgery service as well as an inpatient service. Cover is also provided on a rostered basis to ENT services at Monkland’s District General Hospital.
The job holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest possible standard of care is delivered to patients, families, carers and significant other. This will be done through assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care while considering issues such as lifestyle, race, gender and culture.
Please note this is a fixed term post until 30/09/2026. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care.
Maintain effective communications with patients, relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met.
Knowledge of all relevant National and Local Policies, legislation, procedures, PREP, etc
Work within, and adhere to, defined National policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Ward, Directorate and Division.
Be fully compliant with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and other relevant guidance documents, which support and maintain standards of professional practice.
To ensure that all changes in patients condition and / any concerns relating to child protection [ Children’s Act 1989] are reported to appropriate senior members of staff
Organise own and more junior staff workload and utilise time management skills to ensure that the interests of patients/clients are met.
