Job summary

Arriva Road Transport Services is seeking a Service Controller based in York or Derby with hybrid working. You will support rail replacement operations for TOCs, coordinating taxi and coach transport within a 24/7 roster, including nights and weekends.

The role requires strong incident reporting, supplier liaison, and a proactive, detail‑oriented approach. You will handle standby provisions, data input into Management Systems, and ensure services run on time, while collaborating with multiple

Qualifications

• Experience in a contact or support centre environment.
• Strong incident reporting and report writing skills.
• Ability to deal with complex information.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Professional telephone manner with ability to negotiate best price.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Strong IT skills with MS Office suite.
• Strong time management.
• Flexible rostering for 4-on-4-off shifts.
• Ability to work night and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Author and distribute incident reports to support compliance.
• Use Oracle to raise requisitions for purchase orders.
• Respond to TOC/customer requirements by sourcing and managing transport services.
• Liaising with External TOCs during joint operations.
• Ensure services are monitored and on time.
• Proactively manage day-to-day operational issues.
• Work with TOC Controllers and suppliers regularly.
• Manage standby vehicles provision.
• Complete day-to-day paperwork and input into systems.
• Collaborate with Arriva departments for smooth operations.
