Job summary

National Energy System Operator (NESO) is seeking a System Ops Health Analyst to join the System Operations Monitoring and Health team. The role is office-based with a 24x7 shift roster and a 30% shift allowance. Based in Wokingham with initial travel to Warwick for training.

NSV clearance is required and UK residency for last five years is expected. The role focuses on monitoring and maintaining health across CNI services, coordinating with second/third line teams, and ensuring security and

Qualifications

• Strong background of appropriate technology (e.g., Wintel, Unix, BMC products, SCADA Telemetry).
• Experience of supporting mission critical systems with a good knowledge of system technologies, networking, monitoring tools and processes.
• A strong operational background with experience in analytical thinking, problem solving, and decision making is required.
• Understanding Service Management practices and processes (e.g., change and release management) and risk/issue management (e.g., ITIL processes and tools).
• Wintel, Unix & monitoring tools.
• Awareness of mechanical & electrical infrastructure within Data Centres or Building Management Systems is desirable.
• Preferably educated to degree level in Computer Science (or related subject), or with an equivalent combination of education, training (with vendor certification), and experience.
• Preferred: ITIL qualification; Wintel, BMX, Unix, RHEL experiences desirable.

Responsibilities

• The individual will be part of the team providing 24x7 system health & proactive monitoring of the CNI (Critical National Infrastructure) services.
• This will cover applications, middleware, database, operating system, server infrastructures.
• The team provides 1st line support to ensure CNI systems / services meet their SLAs.
• Effective interaction and engagement with the second- and third-line support teams, System Managers, business partners, control room staff, IT helpdesk, Incident Managers and other key third parties is required.
