The Role

The post holder will work as a key member of the Respiratory Team, providing a professional, highly skilled, efficient, high-quality diagnostic and screening service to patients attending the hospital. The role includes deputising for the Respiratory Service Manager in both clinical and managerial issues. The service is aligned with National and International Standards and supports best clinical practices.

Candidate Requirements
  • BSc in Clinical Physiology or a relevant subject plus ARTP parts 1 & 2, or equivalent experience.
  • Operating at a level suitable for RCCP registration.
  • Evidence of certificated courses on procedures for CPD, aligned with standards by the Health Professional Council and Registration Council for Clinical Physiology.
  • Experience with formal, accredited courses on procedures and disease processes.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience at a grade below the current role.
  • Ability to use own initiative and knowledge of relevant standards, guidelines, and safety practices.
  • Experience with specialist software for pulmonary function tests and sleep screening.
  • Proficiency in general software like Word.
  • Up-to-date Basic Adult Life Support certification.
  • Ability to communicate complex information and train professional staff.
  • Capability to handle complex situations, e.g., unwell or uncooperative patients.

Note: A full UK/EU/EEA driving license is required where applicable.

Contract Details

Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months, full-time (37 hours).

This is a fixed-term position. Staff on temporary funding need prior approval from their line manager for secondment.

Location & Working Pattern

Based at University Hospital Wishaw. Shortlisted candidates may be considered for similar roles elsewhere.
