Job summary

BakerHicks in Manchester is seeking a proactive graduate engineer to start a two‑year HV engineering scheme. You’ll learn by doing, supported by mentors, work on EHV design tasks and grow toward chartership while contributing to real projects.

You’ll join a friendly, ambitious team across multiple sectors, with hands‑on training, exposure to high‑profile projects, and clear progression toward professional accreditation within a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 2:1 in a relevant engineering degree (e.g., Electrical or Power Engineering).

Responsibilities

• Producing designs, calculations, reports, and drawings for new and modified Extra High Voltage (EHV) projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV.
• Preparing bonding line diagrams, cable rating assessments, induced voltage analyses, short circuit force evaluations, thermo‑mechanical thrust calculations, pulling tension assessments, and the development of material specification lists.
• Contributing to health and safety reviews and hazard identification in accordance with the CDM regulations, also focusing on sustainability and environmental compliance.

Our commitment is to develop, train, and retain our graduates for the long term.
