Job summary

East Kent Mencap in Margate (Kent) is hiring part-time support workers to assist individuals with learning disabilities and autism. You will provide one-to-one and small-group activities, helping people achieve personal goals with compassionate, person-centred approaches.

The role involves evening sessions and a flexible schedule, with salary 13.01–13.42 GBP per hour for 24 hours per week. Full induction and training are provided.

Qualifications

• Care certificate required.
• NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, or be willing to work towards).
• Experience in a care/support role would be advantageous.
• Experience of implementing strategies for individuals who express frustrations and needs through challenging behaviour, or be willing to learn these skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex health needs in Margate and Ramsgate on a 2:1 basis.
• Plan and deliver engaging sessions, facilitate activities, and work with individuals to achieve personal goals.
• Involve occasional evening work in clubs and flexible availability.

What you'll be doing

You'll support people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex health needs in our Margate and Ramsgate hubs, on a 2:1 basis. This includes individuals who may express their needs through challenging behaviour.

Your role combines one-to-one support with group activities. You'll plan engaging sessions, facilitate activities, and work directly with people to achieve their personal goals.

The role includes occasional evening work in our range of clubs. We welcome flexible candidates with good availability.

What you'll need

• Care certificate
• NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, or be willing to work towards)
• Experience in a care/support role would be advantageous
