Job summary

HUC (Herts Urgent Care) invites applications for an NHS 111/Out of Hours Call Handler at Welwyn Garden City. The role supports patients across Hertfordshire and surrounding areas with 24/7 NHS 111 and out-of-hours services.

The position offers day and night shifts with a comprehensive 6-week training programme (9am-5pm, Monday to Friday). You will be the voice patients hear when help is needed most and contribute to a compassionate, efficient service.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is essential.
• Able to commit to 6 weeks of full-time training (9am-5pm).
• Lives within a 60 minute commute and has the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Be the First Point of Contact: handle urgent and non-urgent calls to direct patients to the right care.
• Use NHS Pathways with Confidence: assess symptoms and direct patients to appropriate services.
• Provide reassurance: use listening and communication skills to give clear, accurate guidance.
