Job summary

Red Bull Powertrains in the United Kingdom is offering a year-long placement within our Design Engineering teams. You will be immersed in our state-of-the-art facilities, contributing to the design and development of critical Power Unit systems for Formula 1, including ICE, ERS, battery, MGU-K, turbo and chassis integration.

You’ll work on real engineering challenges, using CAD, simulations and testing on our in-house dynos, gaining hands-on experience, collaborating with multi-disciplinary

Qualifications

• At least one year of undergraduate study in engineering, mathematics or physics.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles and applying mathematics to problems.
• Familiarity with CAD, FEA, CFD, or system modelling (training provided).
• Experience with data from simulations or tests and ability to prepare technical documentation.
• Ability to break complex problems down to fundamental principles and understand contributing physics.
• Demonstrated passion for engineering through projects or placements.
• Positive, proactive attitude and ability to learn new skills.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to all stages of the engineering process from concept to in-house testing.
• Apply design principles using CAD and rapid manufacturing techniques to develop Power Unit components.
• Develop fixtures, jigs and assemblies to support testing and builds.
• Design and execute measurement tests, perform failure analysis, and propose improvements.
• Develop and apply precision instrumentation to monitor the Power Unit environment.
• Build and validate numerical simulations to maximise performance and reliability.
• Interpret and report data through technical documentation for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with all Technical and Manufacturing teams to deliver engineering solutions.
• Gain exposure to the 2027 Formula 1 season and contribute to future powertrains.
