Job summary

Thrive Education in Cheltenham is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil in a welcoming primary school. The role is full-time and long-term, starting after half term, with no end date currently listed.

You will work closely with the pupil, SENCo and school team to provide patient, consistent support, including personal care where needed, to help the child access learning and build independence.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND, Communication and Interaction needs, developmental delay or additional learning needs would be highly beneficial.
• Experience in 1:1 support is advantageous.
• Willingness to assist with personal care is required.
• Ability to work as part of a wider school team is essential.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support within the classroom and wider school environment.
• Helping the pupil access and engage with learning activities.
• Adapting tasks to make learning accessible.
• Supporting communication with adults and peers.
• Encouraging independence and celebrating progress.
• Assisting with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the day.
• Providing appropriate personal care and toileting support as needed.
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider support team.
• Building a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
