Job summary

Desian Education are partnering with a single-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port to recruit an experienced teaching assistant for a year 5 class on a full-time temporary basis. The start date is flexible, with the option to start immediately or after Christmas for the right candidate.

You will support a male pupil on a 1:1 basis with SEMH, managing complex behaviours and absconding risks. This role demands resilience, a proactive approach and strong teamwork, including collaboration

Qualifications

• Experience as a teaching assistant in primary education.
• Experience supporting SEMH pupils with challenging behaviours.
• Ability to build positive relationships and promote attendance.

Responsibilities

• Support a year 5 pupil on a 1:1 basis with SEMH and complex behaviours.
• Meet the pupil at the gate and walk them back to their carer at the end of the day.
• Implement positive behaviour strategies, movement breaks and regulation techniques.
• Work collaboratively with ESLA and report to the deputy headteacher on progress.

Desian Education are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port. This inclusive and supportive school require an experienced and resilient teaching assistant to join their year 5 class on a full-time temporary basis. They are ideally looking for someone to start immediately but they are willing to delay the start until after Christmas for the right person.

In this long-term position you will be supporting a pupil within the year 5 class with SEMH. Due to external circumstances this pupils present complex challenging behaviours and does attempt to abscond regularly. This is the perfect opportunity for a resilient individual that is passionate about supporting disadvantaged young people.

Your new role:

In your new role as a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining the year 5 class. You will be supporting a male pupil on a 1:1 basis with SEMH due, due to this they do present complex behavioural challenges and do attempt to abscond. You will be their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the gate and walking them back to their grown up at the end of the day. As they do attempt to abscond you will be required to be with this pupil at all times. To promote their behaviour and attendance you will:

• Implement positive behaviour strategies best suited to their emotional state and responses, utilising movement breaks, brain breaks, and regulation strategies
• Take a genuine interest in the pupil and their interests to build a strong constructive relationships
• Work collaboratively with ESLA
• Report directly to the deputy headteacher on your pupils behavioural responses and further requirements
