Job summary

Justteachers Ltd is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Wisbech from September. This full-time role focuses on aiding academic progress, confidence, and personal development in the final year of primary education.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and school staff to tailor support, promote inclusion, and help the pupil access the curriculum with positive behaviour and ongoing feedback.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs is desirable.
• Patient, caring and proactive approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Strong teamwork and willingness to support the wider school community.
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
• Two recent education-based references.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil throughout the school day.

• Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
• Support the pupil during classroom activities, interventions and school events.
• Promote positive behaviour and assist with behaviour management strategies.
• Build a strong, supportive relationship with the pupil, staff and parents.
• Contribute to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

About the role:

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive Primary School in Wisbech who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil on a full-time basis from September.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference in a child’s educational journey, supporting their academic progress, confidence, and personal development throughout their final year of primary education. The role is expected to continue for the full academic year and would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider school staff to provide tailored support and ensure the pupil can fully access the curriculum in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
