Job summary

TeacherActive in Liverpool is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a secondary pupil. You will provide focused day-to-day assistance, helping the student access lessons and participate fully in class.

This role suits someone patient and adaptable, with experience with SEND and 1:1 support. You will collaborate with teachers and the SEND team to create an inclusive learning environment and help the student build confidence.

Qualifications

• Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
• Has previous experience providing 1:1 support, SEND support or general classroom assistance.
• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Is patient, understanding and able to adapt to different learning needs.
• Can build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Has strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Is reliable, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about supporting young people.
• Is confident supporting students across the Secondary age range.
• Experience supporting students with SEND would be particularly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student within a Secondary School setting
• Help the student access lessons and engage positively with classroom activities
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
• Adapt your approach to meet the student's individual learning needs
• Support academic progress across KS3 and KS4 where appropriate
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the student
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the school's SEND team to create an inclusive learning environment
