Job summary

TeacherActive are seeking a caring and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Liverpool. You will provide dedicated support to a single student throughout the day, helping them access lessons, engage in class activities and develop confidence.

Ideal candidates have experience with SEND or general classroom support, and a Level 2/3 TA qualification is desirable. Short-term contracts with potential longer-term work are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in a school/educational setting.
• Previous 1:1 support, SEND support or general classroom assistance appreciated.
• Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification desirable but not essential.
• Patient, adaptable to different learning needs and able to build relationships.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills; reliable and enthusiastic.
• Confident supporting students across the secondary age range.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student within a Secondary School.
• Help the student access lessons and engage positively in classroom activities.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
• Adapt approach to meet the student’s individual learning needs.
• Support academic progress across KS3 and KS4 where appropriate.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the student.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and SEND team to create an inclusive environment.
