Job summary

JustTeachers Ltd is recruiting a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a specialist school in the Lancaster area on a long-term basis. The role starts in September 2026 and involves working closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support within a highly structured environment.

You will implement behaviour and safeguarding plans, applying trauma-informed approaches and maintaining professional boundaries at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with complex behavioural or SEMH needs.
• Proven experience in a 1:1 role within an educational or specialist setting.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and trauma-informed approaches.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Two education or school-based references.

About the role:

Justteachers is recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a specialist school in the Lancaster area on a long-term basis.
The full-time post is due to start in September 2026, with shortlisting currently taking place.

The school provides a highly structured, nurturing and therapeutic environment, supporting pupils with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs. There is a strong focus on safeguarding, positive relationships and helping pupils develop safe behaviours and emotional understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex behavioural and emotional needs
• Supporting the implementation of detailed behaviour and safeguarding plans
• Working closely with teaching staff, safeguarding leads and external professionals to promote positive outcomes and safe behaviours

Pre-requisites:

• Relevant qualifications or experience supporting pupils with complex behavioural or SEMH needs
• Proven experience working in a 1:1 role within an educational or specialist setting
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management and trauma-informed approaches
• The ability to maintain professional boundaries and follow robust safeguarding procedures
• Two education or school-based references
