Job summary

Dorset Council is seeking a caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a named child with type 1 diabetes in our school. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and staff to promote a safe, inclusive learning environment during term time.

The role is fixed-term until August 2027, 22 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, with salary £13,084-£13,292 depending on experience. Training can be provided for diabetes awareness.

Qualifications

• Provides 1:1 support to a named child with Type 1 diabetes.
• Supports emotional, social and academic development in the classroom.
• Works with teachers, SENCOs and staff to adapt learning strategies.
• Contributes to a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Keeps records and makes observations as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a child, in line with individual learning and care needs.
• Support the child’s emotional, social, and academic development in the classroom and during activities.
• Work with teaching staff and parents to implement learning strategies.
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with record keeping and observations as required.
