Job summary

Aspire People is urgently seeking five reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join specialist schools across Oxford (OX2, OX3 and OX4). These full-time, term-time only roles offer immediate start and a clear path to temporary-to-permanent employment.

You will support pupils with special educational needs, helping them participate in lessons, develop communication skills and build confidence. No SEN experience needed; graduates, career changers and those with transferable care or youth-work

Qualifications

  • SEN experience is not essential.
  • Graduates, career changers and transferable skills welcome.
  • Transferable skills from care, childcare or youth work are valued.
  • Ability to communicate with children and colleagues confidently.

5 SEN Teaching Assistants Required - Oxford | Immediate Start Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Temp to Perm | No SEN Experience Needed

We are urgently seeking five reliable and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join specialist schools across Oxford, covering OX2, OX3 and OX4.

These full-time opportunities are ideal for candidates who are passionate about working with children and young people and are interested in developing a career in special educational needs education.

Previous SEN experience is not essential. We welcome applications from graduates, career changers and candidates with transferable skills from care, support work, childcare, youth work, sport and other people-focused professions.

Position Details
  • Location: Oxford - OX2, OX3 and OX4.
  • Pay: Competitive.
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm.
  • Contract: Full-time, term-time only.
  • Employment pathway: Temporary to permanent.
  • Start date: ASAP.
  • Vacancies: 5.
  • Additional benefit: Paid trial day.
The Role

You will support pupils with special educational needs, helping them participate in lessons, develop communication skills and build confidence.

Working alongside teachers and specialist staff, you will provide classroom assistance and help pupils with their educational, social and emotional development.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils with daily learning activities.
  • Providing individual and small-group assistance.
  • Encouraging engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Helping maintain a safe and supportive classroom.
  • Following school procedures and safeguarding requirements.
Suitable Backgrounds

We would particularly welcome applicants with experience in:

  • Psychology or education.
  • Teaching or classroom support.
  • Care work and healthcare.
  • Youth work and mentoring.
  • Early Years and nursery settings.
  • Behaviour support.
  • Sports coaching and activity leadership.
  • Tutoring and volunteering.
  • Customer service, hospitality and retail.
  • Parenting or caring roles involving relevant transferable skills.

Candidates with experience supporting autism, ADHD, complex needs or behavioural difficulties will find this useful, but it is not essential.
