Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a supportive, patient 1:1 SEND Tutor to work with a young person in Herefordshire. This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

You will provide personalised educational support, build a positive relationship with the student, adapt your teaching to their needs and help develop confidence, engagement and progress, while safeguarding at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND in educational or tutoring settings.
• Experience providing one-to-one or personalised educational support.
• Ability to adapt learning and teaching to individual needs.
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, flexible and supportive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.
• Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required.
• Satisfactory professional references.
• Right to work in the UK.

The role will involve providing personalised educational support to a student who may benefit from a flexible and individualised approach to learning. You will be expected to build a positive and trusting relationship with the student, adapt your teaching to their individual needs and help develop their confidence, engagement and progress.

The role may involve

• Delivering one-to-one tuition tailored to the student's individual needs
• Supporting the student across core academic subjects where appropriate
• Planning engaging and accessible learning activities
• Adapting teaching approaches to suit different abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
• Helping the student develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
• Providing encouragement and consistent support to help the student re-engage with education
• Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
• Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
• Maintaining clear and professional communication
• Following safeguarding procedures at all times
