Job summary

AP Education is seeking a SEND Tutor for 1:1 support in Haslemere, Surrey. You will work with learners with SEND/SEMH, delivering Maths, English or Science, and implementing positive behaviour strategies to meet individual needs.

You will assess progress, prepare reports, and collaborate with SALT, OT, or Social Workers as required, supporting transitions to mainstream or specialist education settings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA preferred; UK experience welcome without qualifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable and initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face 1:1 support for learners from Early Years to KS4.
• Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND-specific content.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Liaise with external professionals (SALT, OT, Social Workers) when needed.
• Record daily/weekly progress and attendance; support transitions to mainstream settings.
