Job summary

St Nicholas C of E Primary School in Kenilworth is recruiting a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support children in KS1/KS2. The role is fixed term until July 2027, with potential extension, working 30 hours 50 minutes per week, Mon-Fri 8.40am–3.20pm (Term time plus 1 week).

The post is pro-rata with TA2 Band F pay scale and a collaborative, caring team environment. The successful candidate will have an NVQ Level 2 (Level 3 desirable) and GCSEs in English and Maths, with SEND experience and

1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant

St Nicholas C of E Primary School, Kenilworth

At St Nicholas C of E Primary School, our vision is clear: Aim high, be courageous, show love and kindness. We are seeking to appoint a skilled and caring Teaching Assistant who will bring this vision to life every day—supporting children to flourish academically, socially and emotionally. The role is fixed term until July 2027, potentially extending beyond this date. Working 30 hours 50 minutes per week, Monday to Friday 8.40am – 3.20pm (Term time plus 1 week). Preferably starting as soon as possible or November 2026.

Salary Scale: TA2 Band F (7–11) – Pro-rata

The Role

The role involves providing support and working one to one or in small groups with children in key stage 1 and key stage 2. The individual taking on this role will need to be highly motivated, calm and patient, and able to work well as part of a team.

This role requires flexibility, initiative and the ability to build trusting, respectful relationships—reflecting our commitment to show love and kindness in all we do.

Who We Are Looking For

• Hold a recognised and relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification (NVQ Level 3 desirable)
• Have GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at grades A–C
• Have experience of TA work and strong communication and listening skills
• Understand SEND and have worked with children with additional needs
• Bring secure knowledge of at least one core subject
• Understand safeguarding and school policies
• Use ICT effectively to support learning
• Are proactive, reflective and able to use initiative
