Job summary

Premier Education Ltd in Runcorn is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school from September 2026 for a long-term placement. The role focuses on providing tailored 1:1 support for two pupils with ASC, including a Year 6 pupil with PDA traits, via structured sessions guided by Educational Psychologist recommendations to maximise engagement and wellbeing.

Qualifications

Significant experience supporting children with autism in a primary school.
Strong understanding of autism-friendly approaches and best practice.
Experience with PDA traits or demand-avoidant behaviours.
Confidence managing behaviours positively with a calm, consistent approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Patience, resilience and flexibility in a dynamic school environment.
Prior 1:1 Teaching Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

Provide personalised 1:1 support for two pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition.
Deliver autism-friendly strategies to promote engagement, learning and emotional regulation.
Support pupils with communication, social interaction and independence.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
Adapt support throughout the day to meet changing pupil needs.
Provide support for other pupils across the school when required.
