Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to work with a Year 1 pupil in a Gateshead primary school. You will provide consistent support to help the pupil access learning and feel settled.

The role focuses on behaviour support, social interaction, and building positive relationships within an inclusive education setting. A degree in psychology, education, or childhood studies is relevant, with prior experience preferred but not essential.

• Patient, calm and empathetic approach to supporting a pupil.
• Resilient when managing challenging behaviour and adapting to needs.
• Confident communicating with children and adults.
• Passionate about supporting children with SEND and inclusive education.
• Interest in child development and building positive relationships.
• Able to build trust with the pupil and wider school team.

Aufgaben

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Encourage participation in classroom activities.
• Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Help the pupil manage emotions and regulate behaviour.
• Develop a trusting relationship and social interactions.
• Support independence and confidence with tasks.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and support staff.
