Job summary

Coleman James is seeking a caring 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil in South Shields.

You will help the pupil access learning, build confidence and form positive relationships within the school, working closely with the class teacher and wider team. This role offers a rewarding opportunity within a supportive school community.

Experience with SEN, autism, ADHD or primary settings is desirable and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil.
• Helping pupil access and engage with classroom learning.
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
• Supporting pupil's social, emotional and academic development.
• Encouraging independence and confidence.
• Helping pupil develop positive relationships with peers.
• Assisting with transitions and changes throughout the day.
• Providing reassurance and encouragement as needed.
• Adapting activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.
• Maintaining a positive, calm and nurturing approach.
