Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide full-time 1:1 support to a primary-aged child with ADHD. You will work closely with the child, class teacher and SENCO to ensure consistent support throughout the school day.

The role requires patience and compassion, with emphasis on building confidence and independence. Experience with ADHD or SEN is desirable, and all applicants must meet relevant qualifications and training as per safeguarding guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN or ADHD is desirable.
• Experience delivering 1:1 support in a primary school setting is advantageous.
• All applicants must have appropriate qualifications and training per DfE guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Encourage engagement and participation in classroom activities.
• Support focus, attention, organisation and transitions.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child.
• Use strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour.
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and school team.
• Encourage independence and celebrate progress.
• Maintain a calm, nurturing approach at all times.
