Job summary

WMJobs is recruiting a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for Cicely Haughton School in Wetley Rocks to support pupils aged five to eleven with SEMH needs. The role involves working within class groups under teachers’ supervision to foster learning, self-esteem and well-being.

The post requires commitment to promoting joy of learning, resilience and high professional standards. It is a full-time fixed-term contract during term time, starting September 2026, with DBS checks and reference verification.

Qualifications

• Previous SEN experience not required; training will be provided.
• Must have the right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship is available.
• Disclosure and Barring Service check required; all unspent and spent penalties must be declared.
• Reference checks required before interview.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in class groups under teachers' line management.
• Maintain high standards of support and supervision, while being a positive role model for children.
• Assist in developing pupils' self‑esteem, self‑worth and self‑confidence within and beyond the classroom.
• Show resilience, a sense of humour and the ability to work with high expectations for behaviour and learning.
• Take on or support other tasks as required to promote pupils’ educational attainment and well‑being.
