Job summary

Supply Desk is recruiting a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time position in Slough. You will provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, liaising with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement EHCP targets and learning plans.

A patient, proactive approach is essential, along with safeguarding and DBS compliance. You will work closely with the class teacher to adapt activities, monitor progress, and help the pupil build confidence, independence and social skills in a

Qualifications

  • Patient, compassionate and understanding approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.

  • Current enhanced DBS on Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs, within and outside the classroom as required.
  • Work with class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning plans and EHCP targets.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the pupil's needs and learning style.
  • Support pupil's confidence, independence, communication and social skills.
  • Assist pupils who have difficulties with concentration, communication, emotional regulation, behaviour or social interaction.
  • Utilise positive behaviour management to promote engagement and a calm learning environment.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teacher and SENCO.
  • Build a trusting relationship with the pupil while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Follow school policies including safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety, and child protection.

About the Role

Are you a caring, patient, and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, independence, and social skills within a welcoming and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs, both within and outside the classroom where required.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to understand and implement individual learning plans, EHCP targets, and support strategies.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the pupil's individual needs, abilities, and learning style.
  • Provide encouragement and reassurance to help develop the pupil's confidence, independence, communication, and social skills.
  • Support pupils who may experience difficulties with concentration, communication, emotional regulation, behaviour, or social interaction.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and create a calm and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor the pupil's progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures, including safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety, and child protection requirements.
