Job summary

Teaching Personnel is assisting a mainstream primary school in Christchurch to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for Year 5, ASAP start. You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO to support learning and inclusion throughout the school day.

Your calm, patient approach and commitment to helping children overcome barriers will help this pupil access the curriculum and build confidence in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs is desirable.
• Experience in SEN is preferred but transferable experience (youth work, care, support) may be considered.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Help pupil access the curriculum and engage with classroom activities.
• Support emotional wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem.
• Encourage positive behaviour and independence.
• Support social interaction and inclusion with peers.
• Follow individual support strategies with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Create a positive, calm, nurturing environment for the pupil to thrive.
