Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil in Bridport, Dorset. The role is offered through Teaching Personnel, the UK’s leading education recruitment agency, with a dedicated consultant throughout the placement.

The ideal candidate will have experience in primary/SEN settings, be patient and adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with the pupil and school team.

Qualifications

• Experience in working with children, particularly in a primary school or SEN setting.
• Confident providing 1:1 support.
• Patient, calm, caring and consistent.
• Able to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Adaptable and able to respond to the individual needs of a pupil.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to the full placement.
• Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
• Previous experience as Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar would be highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil.
• Support the pupil to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
• Develop a positive, trusting and professional relationship with the pupil.
• Encourage independence, confidence and engagement with learning.
• Support emotional regulation, communication and social development where appropriate.
• Promote positive behaviour and use agreed strategies consistently.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Provide feedback regarding the pupil's engagement and progress.
• Support the pupil during transitions, break times and other parts of the school day.
• Follow the school's safeguarding, behaviour and SEN policies.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
