Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. are currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with complex needs and autism in a primary school in the BL2 area. This long-term role offers ongoing support and development opportunities.

You will build a trusting relationship, support communication for a pupil with limited language, and use multisensory approaches to make learning accessible and engaging throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Experience working with autistic children with complex learning needs.
• Personalised support tailored to the individual child.
• Confident supporting children with limited or emerging communication.
• Warm, patient and able to form genuine relationships.
• Flexible, dynamic approach to supporting learning.
• Able to work collaboratively with teachers and SENDCO.
• Can use initiative and stay calm when needs change.
• Understanding of sensory needs and regulation.
• Knowledge of Total Communication approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with complex SEN and autism.
• Build a trusting relationship and respond to individual needs.
• Support communication for a child with limited language.
• Use multisensory approaches to make learning accessible.
• Support sensory needs, including regulation activities.
• Collaborate with class teacher and SENDCO to adapt learning.
• Identify when regulation support or activity change is needed.
