Job summary

Aspire People is seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs. You will help pupils re-engage with education and work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to implement individual strategies.

We welcome candidates with 1:1 experience, a background in schools or similar settings, and a calm, consistent approach to managing challenging behaviour. Strong rapport-building is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• 1:1 experience is essential.
• Experience in school, PRU, or similar settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs.

Aspire People are looking for experienced Teaching Assistants with a strong background supporting children and young people with SEMH and behavioural needs.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked professionally on a 1:1 basis and are confident building positive relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, emotional difficulties or barriers to learning.

The Role:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour
• Building positive and trusting relationships
• Helping pupils re-engage with education and learning
• Implementing individual behaviour and support strategies
• Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions and unstructured periods
• Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs
• Promoting positive behaviour, confidence and independence

The Ideal Candidate:

• Professional experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
• Previous 1:1 experience is essential
• Experience within a school, PRU, alternative provision, residential or similar setting
• Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent way
• Strong understanding of boundaries and positive behaviour strategies
• Resilient, patient and emotionally intelligent approach
• Able to build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries
