Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is helping a warm Primary School in Newham to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 child with Autism (ASD). The role starts ASAP and runs until the end of the academic year, with extension likely.

You will provide 1:1 support, assist with phonics-based activities, and help with communication and routines, under the guidance of the SENCO and class teachers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs.
• Confidence using visual supports (Now & Next boards, visual timetables, PECS, etc.)
• Understanding of Phonics in early literacy development
• Patient, nurturing, and able to build trust and consistency
• Comfortable supporting with personal care

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a KS1 child with ASD who is pre-verbal.

A warm and supportive Primary School in Newham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 child with Autism (ASD). This is a full-time role starting ASAP until end of academic year

The Role

Providing 1:1 support for a KS1 child with ASD who is pre-verbal

Supporting communication and engagement through Now & Next boards, visual aids, and structured routines

Assisting with Phonics-based activities and early learning tasks

Supporting the child's social and emotional development

Providing personal care when required

Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external specialists
