Job summary

Remedy Tutors is seeking a passionate Primary SEN Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition for primary-aged pupils across homes, schools and community settings. You will support learners with SEND including autism, ADHD, dyslexia and speech-language needs, tailoring English, maths and early literacy to each child’s goals.

The role requires QTS/PGCE or equivalent, strong classroom knowledge, and a commitment to safeguarding while fostering confidence and progress in every learner.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children with SEND/SEN.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 tuition, interventions or personalised classroom support.
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum, particularly English, maths and phonics.
  • A recognised teaching or tutoring qualification, such as QTS, PGCE/PGDE or another relevant certification.
  • A good understanding of different SEN needs and effective primary teaching strategies.
  • The ability to make learning engaging, accessible and age appropriate.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
  • An Enhanced DBS or willingness to complete the required process.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, personalised 1:1 tuition for primary-aged pupils.
  • Support children with needs including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language needs, SEMH and other learning difficulties.
  • Teach across the primary curriculum, with a particular focus on English, maths, and early learning skills.
  • Assess each child's learning needs and establish appropriate objectives.
  • Plan and deliver structured, differentiated lessons aligned with individual learning plans and, where appropriate, the National Curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching approaches, resources and strategies to suit each child's age, developmental stage and needs.
  • Build positive relationships and develop pupils' confidence, independence and motivation.
  • Monitor progress and provide clear reports on learning and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Follow appropriate safeguarding and SEND procedures.
