Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting for a 1:1 PMLD Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with profound and multiple learning disabilities in a Rochdale SEN school. The role runs Monday to Friday, 5 days a week, providing dedicated daily support within the classroom and alongside teaching staff.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with PMLD, a patient and compassionate approach, and a commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing in a specialist setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD.
• Experience in SEN schools, residential homes or specialist settings.
• DBS Update Service clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a child with PMLD throughout the school day.
• Build a positive, professional relationship with the pupil.
• Understand the child’s communication methods, needs and preferences.
• Support learning, development and engagement in school activities.
• Offer emotional, physical and practical support as required.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
• Follow individual support plans and school procedures.
• Promote safety, dignity and wellbeing of the pupil.
