Qualifications

  • Patient, empathetic and confident when working with young people.

  • Strong communicator and eager to develop understanding of SEN.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with additional learning needs.
  • Assist the student with accessing the curriculum and completing classroom tasks.
  • Develop strategies that encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning.
  • Support the student's social and emotional development throughout the school day.
  • Build a positive, trusting and consistent relationship with the student.
  • Work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and wider pastoral team.
  • Help create a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching and SEN staff where appropriate.

1:1 Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School in Harlow

Start Date: September 2026 | Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Harlow is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work closely with a student who requires additional academic, social and emotional support. This role would be particularly well suited to a Psychology Graduate, Education Graduate or related graduate looking to gain valuable hands-on experience working with young people in an educational setting.

About the Role
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with additional learning needs
