Job summary

The ideal graduate will hold a 2:1 or first-class degree in Psychology, Education or related field and bring empathy, patience and a proactive approach to coordinating with teachers and the SENDCo to foster a calm, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Educated to a 2:1 or First Class degree in Psychology, Education or related subject.
• Patient, empathetic and confident when working with young people.
• Passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning.
• Calm, resilient and able to respond positively to challenging situations.
• Strong communicator and eager to develop understanding of SEN.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with additional learning needs.
• Assist the student with accessing the curriculum and completing classroom tasks.
• Develop strategies that encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning.
• Support the student's social and emotional development throughout the school day.
• Build a positive, trusting and consistent relationship with the student.
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and wider pastoral team.
• Help create a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching and SEN staff where appropriate.
