Job summary

Guardian Jobs is seeking a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant for a Basildon primary school, starting September 2026. The role focuses on supporting a pupil with additional learning needs throughout the school day, helping with academic progress, emotional wellbeing and social development.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised strategies that enable the child to access learning and thrive in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate seeking meaningful experience in education.
• Experience with children through tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, coaching, or school roles is advantageous.
• Patience, empathy and resilience to support a child with additional learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with one pupil throughout the school day to support academic progress, emotional wellbeing and social development.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised strategies.
• Support the child to access learning and thrive in the classroom.
• Provide tailored 1:1 support to enable continued progress and positive behaviours.
