Job summary

ACE Bretonside is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Mentor to provide personalised support to learners who need additional guidance to engage with education and achieve goals. You will build trusting relationships with learners and work with teaching staff to tailor support both in and outside the classroom.

You will help learners develop confidence, motivation, independence and study skills, supporting organisation and goal setting while promoting positive behaviour and attendance.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people or adults in educational, care, mentoring or support environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with learners with additional needs and barriers to education.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to an allocated learner.
• Build a professional, trusting relationship with the learner.
• Support the learner to engage with lessons, activities and college environment.
• Help learners develop confidence, motivation, independence and self-esteem.
• Encourage positive behaviour, attendance and engagement with learning.
• Break down tasks into manageable steps and support organisation.
