Job summary

TLTP Education in London is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 autism support for a pupil in Tower Hamlets. The role focuses on supporting learning, communication and daily routines within a school setting.

The successful candidate will work closely with the pupil who is non-verbal and will use PECS and Makaton to facilitate interaction, staying calm, proactive and patient to build trust and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism in a school setting.
• Ability to use PECS and Makaton to support non-verbal communication.
• Patient, proactive and observant with the ability to anticipate needs.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's needs.
• Using PECS, Makaton and visual communication strategies to encourage interaction.
• Supporting personal care and daily routines with sensitivity and respect.
• Helping the pupil access learning activities and participate in class.
• Promoting independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Recognising when additional reassurance is needed and adapting support accordingly.
• Collaborating with the class teacher and SEN team for consistency.
