Senploy is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Assistant for a secondary school in East Ham, London. You will work with a non-verbal pupil with autism, staying calm and guiding them through lessons, breaks and transitions using visual supports and established routines.

The role requires empathy, resilience and a willingness to learn, with training provided as needed. You will collaborate closely with the teaching team and SEN staff to support the pupil’s participation and safety.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in a secondary school setting.
• Calm, patient and emotionally resilient in challenging situations.
• Able to stay composed when the pupil is distressed and may be physically aggressive.
• Interest in supporting children with autism, SEN or non-verbal communication.
• Reliable, flexible team player who accepts guidance.
• Physically fit for an active role; some physical intervention may be needed.

Aufgaben

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support in lessons, breaks, lunchtimes and transitions.
• Use visual supports, routines and communication strategies to aid understanding.
• Recognise triggers and de-escalate to keep pupil and others safe.
• Follow the pupil's EHCP, behaviour support plan and risk assessment.
• Support the pupil's personal care and independence as needed.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals.
• Record incidents and progress for review meetings.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupil and family.
