Job summary

Reeson Education is seeking an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with autism (ASD) in a Lambeth primary school.

The role involves working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and support team to help the pupil access learning, communicate effectively and feel secure throughout the day. Previous ASD experience in a primary setting is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ideally in a primary school.
• Confident working 1:1 with a non-verbal child.
• Resilient, patient and calm under pressure.
• Able to follow autism-support strategies throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with ASD
• Following consistent autism support strategies
• Supporting communication and engagement using suitable approaches
• Helping the pupil access classroom activities and wider curriculum
• Supporting emotional regulation, transitions and routines
• Encouraging independence, participation and positive interactions
• Working towards EHCP targets and outcomes
• Maintaining clear communication with the class teacher and SENCO
• Helping create a calm, structured learning environment
